Are you considering studying abroad?  Do you need some help choosing the right program for you?  We're here to help!  Advising appointments are highly encouraged. If you know the program you are interested in, you can apply here!

The Study Abroad office has a variety of appointment types to best fit your needs and help you navigate the study abroad process. 

Program-Specific Advising: Do you know where you want to go or which program you hope to apply for and want to talk specifics? If so, program specific advising is for you!

General Advising, Walk-ins: Do you have general study abroad questions on how to get started? Do you need help navigating our website? If so, general advising or our walk-ins are for you!

Originally from metro-Detroit, Bobby has been working as a Study Abroad Advisor since March 2022. He enjoys meeting with students and talking about language immersion, personal growth abroad, homestays, and selecting the right program fit. While an undergraduate student, he studied abroad in Quito, Ecuador, and post-graduation, he spent 3 years living in Spain. In addition, he has traveled to 20 countries including Argentina, Cuba, France, Denmark, Morocco, the UK, and more.

Ali Donovan, Study Abroad Advisor

As an undergraduate student, Ali studied abroad in Santiago, Chile. This was a transformative experience, sparking a love of travel and a desire to explore and learn. After earning degrees in physics and in education, Ali lived and taught in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Chengdu, China; Karlovy Vary, Czechia; Moscow, Russia; and Istanbul, Türkiye. In addition, she has traveled extensively in these regions, and values her experiences off the beaten path. Now back home in Chicago, Ali looks forward to sharing her love of the world with students!

Are you considering studying abroad at the John Felice Rome Center (JFRC)? Meet with one of our Assistant Directors of Enrollment Management to find out more about our Center. They serve as your main point person for all pre-admissions advising questions and are there to support you from initial inquiry to your time on-site in Rome.

Originally from Indiana but now officially recognized as a Chicagoan, Adam has been the primary recruiter for the John Felice Rome Center since January 2022. He completed both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in United States history at Loyola Chicago and has worked within the Undergraduate Admission Office since 2018. Adam can't articulate in words how awesome spending a semester (or longer) in Rome is, so he sends you there to find out for yourself!

As a world traveler, who has been to 30 countries and counting, Abi is passionate about creating new adventures and encouraging students to step outside their comfort zone. Abi hopes to inspire students to be brave and explore the world! 

JFRC Visa & Post-Acceptance:
Are you already accepted and deposited at the John Felice Rome Center? Meet with our Study Abroad Coordinator for all visa application and post-acceptance questions. 
 

For Fall 2025 Rome Center Students our office will offer both an overview of the Student Visa process via Zoom and offer various Student Visa Drop-In Sessions to review and assist with your student visa paperwork.  Bring along your student visa paperwork and required documents and our office will be happy to review them.   

The Student Visa Overview Session will be held via Zoom. Below is the date and link: 

  • Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4:00 pm – 5:15 pm 

The Student Visa Drop-In Sessions will be held at our Study Abroad Office located at the Sullivan Center Suite 206 on the following days/times: 

  • Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm 

  • Monday, February 10, 2025, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm 

  • Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 9:00 am – 11:00 am

Alana Australia photoAlana Carroll- Study Abroad Coordinator 

Originally from Milwaukee, Alana has worked in the Office of International Programs since 2017. Alana believes studying abroad can be a transformative experience and wants to share that experience with Loyola Students.  She studied abroad in Australia and has traveled to New Zealand, Fiji, Bermuda, Italy, Jamaica, Canada, Mexico, Ireland and Scotland.

Marlee has worked in international education for almost 10 years and specializes in faculty-led program development, international partner relations, and strives to take a student-centered approach to all policy and programming. Marlee studied and lived in Salamanca and Granada, Spain and conducted program development site visits to Costa Rica, UK, Germany, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, & Bulgaria.

Blair Bowden, Study Abroad Peer Ambassador

From Chicago, Blair has been working with the Office of International Programs since spring of 2023. Last year she had an amazing time studying abroad in South Korea. Blair has a bucket list of countries she wants to visit; so far, she has been to Mexico, Japan, South Korea, China, and Germany.


Becca Curiel, Study Abroad Peer Ambassador

Originally from Cuernavaca, Mor., Mexico, Becca has worked as a Study Abroad Peer Ambassador since January 2024. She is a senior majoring in International Relations with minors in Women’s Studies and Economics. Becca studied abroad for a semester in Madrid, Spain, and she had the opportunity to travel to over nine countries. In her role, she enjoys learning and assisting with programs in Latin America and Spain and engaging with students on events like the Study Abroad Fair or tabling. She is passionate about getting to know and learning about other cultures, and she plans to continue her post-graduate studies abroad.


Luciana Pinel Aviles, Study Abroad Peer Ambassador

Luciana was born and raised in El Salvador. Now, she is a sophomore majoring in Computer Science at Loyola. As an international student, she enjoys learning and immersing herself in different cultures as much as meeting new people and trying new foods. She plans to study abroad in the spring semester of her junior year.
